At the Zoo!

We went to check out the Oakland Zoo yesterday and here are some pix. It's small, much smaller than the SD Zoo or Wild Animal Park, but the nice thing is that though there are tons of variety in animals, there are quite a few of each one and they are very close so you can see them very clearly, almost touch them. So it's nice and feels very low maintenance, which works for me with them both being so young. They also have quite a nice play area for kids, so it's very nice. Conner really enjoyed being so close to the animals.

We got to see giraffes, otters, alligators (one of which was really close and did a big yawn which totally scared little Conner :( ), goats, tigers, monkeys, an anaconda, macaws and there are more animals we didn't see yet.

Here are a few pix to enjoy!

  1. Wow! that alligator doesn't look too closed in, its as if he could climb over that fence. They sure were close ha ha! Its nice though that the kids are able to see the animals as sometimes at the wild animal park they are too far away for the little ones! FUN!!!

  2. I know, isn't it crazy how close it was? I couldn't believe it. I was pretty scared & bothered myself...then when he opened his mouth, ack!!!! Anyhoo, yeah, it is actually kind of nice that there are less types of animals in some ways, and then more of them. Definitely nice for the little kids.

  3. Sounds like loads of fun. I always loved smaller zoos when I was a kid because I could see the animals much better and sometime we were allowed to touch them. The boys are as cute as ever. --Timna
