Trevor is sitting!

All by himself. Hurrah! (He's actually been sitting for about a week now or perhaps more, but I haven't had the time to post.) Makes my life just a little bit easier and he's so happy about it too. Now he's on to rocking on his hands and knees and sometimes feet (which hopefully means he'll be crawling soon, we'll see).

Babies just amaze me with how much they grow up and learn in one year! And I just think it's so cool that just as soon as they master one thing, they are on to the next, no one tells them to or anything, it's just inborn. Sometimes I wish I kept that nature as I grew up -- seems I could be way further along. ;)

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Thrush and GSE

So I've been meaning to write about this, but for those who follow our blog, you'll remember that dear little Trevor got thrush around 1 1/2 mns. I went to the pediatrician numerous times about it, was prescribed all sorts of antibiotics for him/me and still nothing was taking it away completely. I did research on the antibiotics and found that I could request the next level up which guarantees to get rid of it, but it had terrible downsides including being very hard on a baby's intestines, etc. So then I switched to looking for gentian violet and couldn't seem to find the right kind, was told stores don't carry it anymore, etc., so I got pretty desperate.

I then did some more research online and made an awesome discovery. I found this website of a Dr Jay Gordon who talked about using Grapefruit Seed Extract combined in distilled water. I decided to try this and found it to be extremely effective. By the time I found this, Trevor had had the thrush for quite some time so it was still pretty stubborn to get rid of, so along with the mixture I also (as much as possible) cut out sugar and yeast from my diet for the first week. And at first I had to use the potion on him and I, but after a short time, I only used it on him and I'm happy to say it didn't take long to see and feel the results.

Not only did it work, but once I got rid of it completely it didn't come back and I'm pretty sure it's also part of what helped keep him stay mostly healthy through all the nasty flus that went around this winter.

Anyway, just thought I'd put this out there in case any Mom reading is either going through this now or knows of someone who is who could use some advice along these lines. At least it worked for me.

A few recent pix...

So like I said, I'm on a quest to take more pix. Here are a few taken with my phone so not the best quality, but I hope enjoyable nonetheless.

Sitting up by himself.
First time in the swing.

First time in the highchair.

Thought this was a precious moment. This was all Dean's initiative.

Being a "big" brother. Conner's into telling me right now "I so big!"
Just being cute!

At the park, he LOVES this rock and the ducks. His favorite spot.

Oh and btw, I took Trevor's weight the other day and he's 19lbs (8 1/2 kilos), so that means he's only 5lbs (2.2) less than Conner right now. :)

It's been forever since I posted and so much has happened...sigh we've been sick and then sick again and then sick some more. But now we are better, yay!! And it's a new month, the beautiful blue California skies are back and life is good.

Let's see...Trevor turned 6 mns, yay! Made it to the halfway mark. He's sitting up almost totally without support, though when he gets extremely excited he completely forgets about sitting, loses his balance, but doesn't seem to care, just tries to get up on his knees or move around some other way. He's quite the cutie, loves attention, the outdoors, to smile, laugh and enjoy life. I haven't gotten his weight yet for the month, so more on that later. Oh and yes, I finally started him on some solids (yes!) and so far he loves it!! He'd eat and nurse all day and night if he could.

And Michael had a birthday...I love him! We were all sick on his birthday, but we tried to enjoy nonetheless and celebrated more completely last Sunday.

And my latest realization is that I haven't taken nearly enough pictures of my hunnies recently and I need to find a way to remedy that, so I took a few today on my phone that I will post shortly.
